The New Zealand Government is committed to improving the transparency of New Zealand's international development cooperation (IDC).
DevData is an important platform for enabling this. Through the website, users can explore up-to-date, detailed information on IDC activities.
Information on over 2400 activities can be found on the DevData website, including information such as activity titles, descriptions, start and end dates, expenditure figures, geographic and sectoral focus information, cooperation modality (type of activity), and partner information.
To make this work, the website ingests XML files prepared within Foreign Affairs, validates the data via API calls to IATI standard, and then parses and performs calculations and transformations to support the user interface, automates charting and search.
Amcharts is used for the charting, alongside Elasticsearch for the website search capability, all running on Silverstripe CMS.
